Trailer of the Week: Wolf of Wall Street

Sorry for the huge delay guys! Okay so the first trailer for this next movie came out this last summer in June, but I wasn’t able to do a post soon enough. The Wolf of Wall Street is an upcoming film by Martin Scorsese, featuring another collaboration with Leonardo DiCaprio. Based on the true life story of Jordan Belfort (DiCaprio) a wealthy stockbroker and his fall into crime and corruption on Wall Street that led to a massive 1990’s securities fraud case. Also starring Matthew McConaughey and Jonah Hill.

I was actually surprised when I first saw the trailer because it actually looks funny! The cast performances look great and you can’t go wrong with Scorsese. Hopefully some award nominations in the future, always a Leo fan, and good reviews will come towards the movie because it is sure to be a winner! Here is a link for the first trailer to the movie as well (which I actually like better than the second one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iszwuX1AK6A). The Wolf of Wall Street is Rated R and comes out Christmas Day 2013.

Trailer of the Week: American Hustle

So this next trailer came out about a week or two ago, and immediately caught my eye because it looks like a major award contender. From David O’Russel, who is on a roll lately with The Fighter in 2010 and Silver Linings Playbook in 2012, comes the story of a con artist (Christian Bale) and his partner in crime (Amy Adams), who are forced to work with a federal agent (Bradley Cooper) to turn the tables on other cons, mobsters, and politicians – namely, the volatile mayor of impoverished Camden, New Jersey (Jeremy Renner). Coming to theaters Christmas Day 2013.

I think the film is going to be good! Apart from Bale’s horrifying comb over and Cooper’s many curls, the cast looks great. It’s pretty much half the cast of The Fighter + half the cast of Silver Linings Playbook + Jeremy Renner. You know, I sometimes forget how young Jennifer Lawrence because her roles are all very mature. Christian Bale, from what I can tell, gives a good performance as a Jersey con man and so does Amy Adams as his sultry lover/partner. Keep American Hustle in mind for next award season.

Trailer of the Week: Gravity

So we’re gonna start a new segment here at Ticket Stub Love called “Trailer of the Week”, where I show trailers that have caught my eye. Granted, I probably won’t be able to do one every single week but let’s see how it goes because I love watching trailers. It’s seriously my favorite part of going to the movies. So here we go, our first trailer: Gravity. Directed by Alfonso Cuarón, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. Coming to theaters October 4, 2013

I first saw this trailer when I went in to see Man of Steel. The special effects look fantastic. Keep in mind, that this is from the same guy who did Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Askabanso obviously it’s gonna look great. The beginning of the trailer with the soft piano music and the glimpses of space was beautiful…..then came the crash and the spinning and then I lost interest. Don’t get me wrong, the film looks good, but I don’t think I could stand 90 minutes of Sandra Bullock screaming around in space and the amount of CGI is already giving me a headache. Also, I personally thought the trailer was kind of funny and I started cracking up in the end when they show Bullock spinning and whispering “Anybody, please copy”.  Am I the only one who laughed? Well, let’s see how Gravity does when it comes out and then hopefully catch up with it and do a review.
