Oscar Predictions 2018

Happy Oscar Sunday! Before the best night of the year begins, here are my prediction’s for tonight’s winners

full list of nominees here

Best Picture: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri ? (Possibly Get Out?)

The reason I have so many question marks is because this is one of the closest races for Best Picture that I have seen in years! There really is no clear front runner. While I would love to see The Shape of Water win big, it might be the safe choice. Three Billboards has had a good run this awards season, but Get Out might be the dark horse here. When I first saw Get Out in numerous predictions, I was baffled. The preferential ballot system would favor a Get Out win though, so the logic makes sense and honestly the film is well deserving.

Oscar Predictions 2014

Ahhh it’s my favorite time of year again….THE OSCARS! So while the big show is set for Sunday, here are Ticket Stub Love’s predictions for the big winners!

one again, a link for the full list of nominees and our previous nominations post

Best Picture: 12 Years a Slave. If not this then American Hustle, but I would be surprised.

Director: Alfonso Cuaron – Gravity. Gravity is a filmmaker’s achievement and Cuaron deserves it all the way.

Actor in  Leading Role: Matthew McConaughey for Dallas Buyers Club. I want Leo to win so badly for Wolf Of Wall Street, but McConaughey has been sweeping all the major awards so he is my pick.

Actress in a Leading Role: Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine

Actor in a Supporting Role: Jared Leto for Dallas Buyers Club

Actress in a Supporting Role: Lupita Nyong’o for 12 Years a Slave. There is a 50/50 chance between her and Jennifer Lawrence for American Hustle. Though I get the sinking feeling JLaw might get it, she already won an Oscar just last year so I’m rooting for Lupita.

Original ScreenplayHer – Spike Jonze

Adapted Screenplay: 12 Years a Slave – John Ridley

Animated Feature Film: Frozen

Foreign Film: The Great Beauty (Italy)

Best Music (original song): Frozen: “Let it Go” — Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez . Though “Happy” by Pharell, also nominated,  is such a good song!

Music (original score): Gravity – Steven Price

Cinematography: Gravity – Emmanuel Lubezki

Costume Design: American Hustle – Michael Wilkinson

Documentary Feature:  The Act of Killing

Film Editing: Gravity – Alfonso Cuaron, Mark Sanger

Makeup and Hair styling:  Dallas Buyers Club – Adruitha Lee and Robin Mathews

Production Design: Gravity – Andy Nicholson, Rosie Goodwin and Joanne Woollard.

Visual Effects: Gravity. I know, I vote too much for Gravity! I just feel like it will win many of the technical awards.

Sound Mixing: Lone Survivor  (I’ve kind of just been guessing at this point..)

Sound Editing:  All Is Lost

Short Film, live action: Avant Que De Tout Perdre (Just Before Losing Everything)

Short Film, animated:  Get a Horse!

Documentary Short: Facing Fear
